BARRIE, Ont. - Police in Barrie say a 29-year-old man is facing charges after a samurai sword was brandished during a domestic incident.

Investigators say the incident began early Tuesday morning when the man began questioning his 26-year-old wife about a suspected infidelity.

Police say the man grabbed the sword and walked his wife to the home of her suspected friend, threatening to make her watch while he killed him.

After being unable to locate his intended victim, the man returned home and barricaded himself inside a second floor room.

The man surrendered to police after a short round of negotiations with tactical team officers.

He remains in custody on a charge of assault and two counts of threatening.
