Thousands of residents at three Scarborough apartment buildings were still without running water, three days after it was shut off.

The problems at 263, 273 and 283 Pharmacy Ave., near Victoria Park and St. Clair Avenues, were caused by a water main break that forced a shutoff by the City of Toronto on Wednesday.

Crews fixed the initial leak on Friday, which was 40 feet deep and difficult to locate, according to the property management company.

However, a test revealed another leak somewhere in the system that will need to be stopped before the water can flow again. It is unclear how long that will take.

Tenants were frustrated about needing to shower at friends’ homes or a local recreation centre.

Although they were initially forced to use swimming pool water to flush their toilets, the property management company provided portable toiletson Friday.

They also offered bottled water to residents.

A property management representative said that staff were, “working around the clock to get it fixed.”
