Toronto Hydro workers scrambled after two dogs were jolted when they stepped on an energized metal plate, the latest in a series of incidents that have left two city dogs dead.

The incidents occurred Wednesday night on Yorkville Avenue.

A woman called 911 after her dogs yelped upon coming in contact with the plate. Her dogs weren't seriously hurt.

Hydro crews found electricity leaking from equipment operated by the Yorkville Business Improvement Association.

Other dog owners in Yorkville admitted to being concerned about their animals and wished officials could get a grip on this problem.

Earlier this month, a dog died of electrocution at Baird Park after stepping on a live wire coming out of a metal plate at the base of a hydro pole.

In November, a German Shepherd died of electrocution in the same neighbourhood after frolicking around a light pole.
