Toronto police are looking for a suspect who tried to abduct a 10-year-old girl on her way to school on Tuesday morning.

The girl was walking west on one of the side streets near Caledonia Road and Lawrence Avenue at about 8:20 a.m. when the man approached from behind, police said.

The suspect grabbed the girl's arm and said, "Come with me," police said.

When the child refused, the suspect repeated his demand. The girl was able to break free and she ran to school and told her teacher, who contacted police.

The suspect is described as white, about 30 years old, 5-foot-8, with short brown hair and a brown item woven into the hair on one side (a different colour than the rest of his hair).

The suspect has a moustache and goatee, grey-green eyes and a mole on his face beside his nose.

He was driving a light-to-medium blue late-model Chrysler 300 with "spinners" on the wheels. There was also a decal in the driver's side rear window of a female wearing a bandana on her head.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 416-808-1300, Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477), or go online at www.222tips.com.
