Three people have been arrested in a violent overnight home invasion in the city's northeast end where a homeowner was attacked with a hammer.
Toronto police said at least four suspects entered the home after midnight and attacked the father inside the single-family home on Reesor Road, on the Toronto and Pickering border.
A family member secretly called 911, and officers arrived and captured three male culprits with the help of a K-9 unit.
The fourth suspect managed to slip away into the wooded community.
The father was taken to hospital where he received stitches, police said.
