Toronto police have charged a suspect in the fatal shooting of a 69-year-old grandfather who was found in the driveway of a North York home earlier this month.

Mariano De-Marco was found suffering from a gunshot wound in front of a home on Fairholme Avenue, near Allen Road and Lawrence Avenue West, at around 4 a.m. on Dec. 9.

Police previously said De-Marco was found by a parking enforcement officer. He was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

Investigators have said they believe the killing was targeted.

Police said Tuesday that they have now arrested a suspect in the killing.

They said 51-year-old Mauricio Sosa Guillen of Toronto has been charged with first-degree murder.

He was scheduled to make a court appearance in Toronto on Dec. 24.

Investigators are asking anyone with further information in the case to contact police or call Crime Stoppers anonymously.
