Snow in the forecast for Toronto after mild start to week
Snow is on the way after a stretch of mild weather in Toronto.
Environment Canada says periods of snow are expected to begin late this morning, bringing about two centimetres of accumulation.
Toronto is expected to see a high of 3 C on Wednesday, dropping to a low of -3 C, with temperatures feeling closer to -8 overnight when factoring in the wind chill.
“Wednesday will see temperatures pull back a bit closer to seasonable. A weak system will bring the risk for midday flurries or light accumulating snow,” CP24 Meteorologist Bill Coulter said.
Coulter noted that evening flurries are in the forecast for Toronto on Thursday before an Alberta clipper comes in to deliver some wet snow on Friday morning and afternoon.
“In the wake of that system, much colder air will invade for the weekend,” Coulter said.
Saturday will see a high of -8 C, according to Environment Canada.
Sunshine and a high of -6 C is in the forecast on Sunday.
“It’ll be nice to see the sun return, but we’ll definitely be bundling up to stay warm on Saturday and Sunday,” Coulter added.
He said he is not ruling out a white Christmas.
“Temperatures rebound for Christmas Eve. We may get some light accumulating snow in the lead up to Santa’s arrival.”
