Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit is probing a single vehicle collision that sent four people to hospital in Mississauga Friday morning.

In a news release published Friday afternoon, SIU spokesperson Jasbir Brar said a Peel Regional Police officer was conducting a radar speed check at the intersection of Eglinton Avenue and Hewicks Lane, when another vehicle drove past and collided with a pole.

Peel Regional Police confirmed to CP24 that four people were in the car at the time of the crash.

All four were rushed to hospital, emergency workers said, but the severity of the injuries is unknown.

The SIU has assigned several investigators and a collision reconstructionist to probe the incident.

The SIU is an arm’s length agency that investigates incidents involving police where there has been a death or serious injury.

Anyone who may have witnessed this incident is asked to contact the lead investigator at 416-622-1957 or 1-800-787-8529.
