Toronto Mayor Rob Ford was asked to leave an advance voting station in North York after it was reported that he was campaigning at the site.
Ford was speaking with electors and having photos taken at the Driftwood Community Recreation Centre at 4401 Jane St., between Steeles and Finch Avenues, on Thursday afternoon.
A representative for the mayor told CTV Toronto that Ford was informed he wasn't permitted anywhere near the designated voting location, and Ford promptly left the area.
Campaigning of any kind is not legal at voting locations, as outlined in the Ontario Municipal Elections Act. Candidates running for office cannot campaign inside the buildings that host polling stations or anywhere on the property.
It is unclear why Ford was at the community centre, which falls into Ward 8 York West. Ford is running for city council in Ward 2, which is separated from Ward 8 by Ward 7.
