Police identify man who died after being stabbed in Toronto’s Corso Italia area, man charged with second-degree murder

Toronto police have identified a man who died following after being stabbed during a “protracted altercation” in Toronto’s Corso Italia area over the weekend.

The incident happened on Saturday near St. Clair Avenue West and Nairn Avenue, just east of Lansdowne Avenue.

Police said they were called to the area just before 3 a.m.

They allege that a male was stabbed during an altercation between a group of people outside.

Paramedics took the victim to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

The victim has now been identified as 21-year-old David Cardoso, of Toronto. He is the city’s 84th murder victim of the year.

Nelson Raposo Vidinha, 31, also of Toronto, has since been arrested and charged with second-degree murder. He is scheduled to attend bail court on Monday.

The investigation is “active and ongoing” and police are asking anyone who saw the altercation or who was in the area at the time and has video surveillance or dash camera footage is urged to them or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-808-1300 or 416-808-7400, or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
