It's a busy weekend around the city and Toronto drivers will feel the brunt of it.

There are several road closures around town Sunday to accommodate a number of popular events.

The Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon will close down several streets in the downtown core.

  • Lakeshore Boulevard from Don Roadway to Windermere Avenue, will close down starting at 5 a.m.
  • Another section of Lakeshore , from Leslie to Queen Streets will be closed off starting from 7 a.m.
  • Wellington Street West, between John and Bay Streets will also be affected by the marathon and will remain closed from 5 a.m. until 3 p.m.

Roads around Queen's Park have been closed down since early Saturday morning to make room for the scores of people who attend the annual Word on the Street Book and Magazine Festival.

The festival starts Sunday and is taking place in the north park of Queen's Park Crescent, just north of the legislature.

Here are some of the scheduled road closures.

  • Both directions of Queen's Park Circle, from north of Wellesley Street to south of Charles Street
  • Hoskins Avenue, from the east side of Tower Road to Queen's Park Circle West
  • St. Joseph Street, from Queen's Park Circle East to west side of the driveway of 121 St. Joseph Street
  • St. George Street at Hoskins Avenue is where the main traffic diversion will take place. TTC buses will be rerouted.

Queen's Park was a busy scene all weekend as people flocked to the area to see innovative art at the all-night Nuit Blanche event, to honour firefighters at the Firefighter's Memorial and to take part in the Run for the Cure race to raise money for breast cancer research.
