Nearly a year after a 19-year-old woman was shot and killed in Mississauga, Peel police have yet to arrest the person responsible, prompting them to renew their appeal for information.

Homicide investigators on Saturday repeated their call for the public’s help in identifying the suspect in the murder of Raneilia Richards.

Richards was fatally struck by stray bullets while standing with her boyfriend and sister outside an event space near Dixie Road and Eglinton Avenue on the morning of Dec. 31, 2023.

Police later found the vehicle used in the shooting but have not located the driver or occupants.

Investigators have not released any suspect information.

“As the one-year anniversary of the Raneilia Richards homicide approaches, investigators are once again asking for assistance in bringing the perpetrators to justice,” police said in a news release on Saturday.

A $100,000 reward has been offered for information leading investigators to the suspects in the shooting deaths of Richards and 24-year-old Jackline Gore.

Jackline Keji Gore, 24, is shown in a handout image from Peel Regional Police.

“Both individuals were innocent bystanders, and investigators believe they were not the intended targets of the shootings,” police said.

The 24-year-old London resident was celebrating a birthday at a bar near Torbram and Drew roads in the early morning hours of July 8 when she was shot and killed.

Gore was not the intended target of the suspect, who arrived in the area in a vehicle. Police said the suspect approached a group of men standing by the doors of the bar and started shooting at one of them.

The intended target ran through the parking lot where Gore and her friends were talking. She was struck by a bullet and died.

In July, when they announced the $100,000 reward, police said they had not found evidence linking the two shootings, saying only that the circumstances are similar.

Investigators are asking anyone with information to contact them at 905) 453–2121 ext. 3205 or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
