Police are looking into a possible security breach at Pearson International Airport after they found a man who had allegedly sneaked through security and made his way onto a plane that was set to depart Monday morning.

Police say they found the man on a plane around 8:30 a.m. Monday.

Officials at GTAA, the body that operates Toronto Pearson, would not speak to media about the alleged security breach, but they did release a statement saying that the plane was isolated after the man was found.

Police used sniffer dogs to check the plane for explosives and when none were found, the plane was able to depart, the GTAA said.

The airport is working with Peel Regional Police and with Transport Canada to review their security, the statement said.

"The GTAA takes this incident very seriously -- any breach of security cannot be tolerated," the statement said.

Police are not releasing further details now that the matter is before the courts, but reports have said the plane was Copa Airline flight 737 and was destined for Panama City.

Police have arrested Trevor Kendall, 33. He is charged with mischief over $5,000, break and enter to a plane, endangering safety of aircraft and obstructing police.
