A shooting at an East Mall apartment building has left one man injured and the police appealing for help.

Const. Tony Vella of the Toronto Police Service told ctvtoronto.ca on Friday that they received a call at 1:54 p.m. of gunshots heard at 615 The East Mall in Etobicoke.

Officers from 22 Division responded. Upon arrival, they found a 28-year-old man lying in a hallway with two gunshot wounds to his thigh. Shell casings were visible.

Paramedics took the victim, who was drifting in and out of consciousness, to Sunnybrook hospital.

The victim is known to police, Vella said.

At least two suspects fled the scene. Vella said they don't have descriptions yet of the suspects.

Security cameras may have captured some useful footage.
