A man has been found murdered in west-end Toronto, making him the city's 65th homicide of the year.

The city's homicide detectives were called to an apartment complex on 200 Woolner Ave., in the Jane Street and St. Clair Avenue area, just after 11 p.m., police told CTV.ca. They received an anonymous 9/11 tip that led them to the 12th floor of the apartment building where they found the man's body.

Police have yet to confirm the victim's identity, though he is believed to be in his 30s, said Det. Sgt. Dean Burks.

However, investigators have spoken to a witness, a man who lived in the apartment where the victim was found. Burks said he is not a suspect.

The victim did not live in the apartment but was known to the tenants. Burks said it looks like there was criminal activity involving drugs happening in the apartment.

"We're looking for information on that as well to further our investigation," he said.

Neighbours have been helpful to some degree though many of them did not hear anything out of the ordinary.

Burks said that is consistent with the evidence they have surrounding the circumstances of the murder at this point. However, police are not yet releasing how the victim was killed.

Police are looking for the second tenant of the apartment but said at this point, he is not considered a suspect. They are also asking the 9/11 caller to come forward.

Anybody with information is being asked to call Crime Stoppers at (416)222-TIPS or the homicide squad at (416) 808-7400.
