Police have set up a command post in Brampton after an attempted sexual assault by a suspect investigators believe was allegedly committed by the same male in a separate incident earlier this month.

Peel Regional Police Const. George Tudos says a 22-year-old female victim suffered minor injuries after she fought off the suspect. Police say the incident happened at around 4 p.m. at Holmes Channel Park.

The suspect is described as black and in his late-teens-to-early 20s. Police say he was last seen wearing a purple hooded sweater, light brown pants, black shoes and a black backpack.

Tudos says police strongly believe the suspect is the same male involved in another sexual assault on May 13.

In that incident, police say a female victim was sexually assaulted while walking in the Queen Mary Drive and McLaughlin Road area in Brampton. Police say the 20-year-old victim struggled and the suspect eventually fled on foot.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Special Victims Unit at 905-453-2121, ext. 3460, or Peel Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
