Toronto police say a male suffered head injuries after a wall collapsed outside a business on Vaughan Road at Oakwood Avenue Saturday afternoon.

The victim sustained injuries after allegedly being hit by falling bricks early afternoon on Saturday.

The man was transported to Sunnybrook Hospital and nearby shops and restaurants were evacuated.

Elissa Novosad, an employee at the Piazza Sports Bar and Café at 630 Vaughan Rd., said the collapse was extremely loud.

"There was a loud bang and I thought it was a car that hit the building," said Novosad.

After looking outside the bar's window, she saw that bricks had fallen and a man who appeared to be around 45-years-old was lying underneath the rubble, before being taken away in an ambulance.

Novosad told ctvtoronto.ca that she wasn't sure if she would be able to return to work on Saturday.

"I'm just waiting to see what's happening and waiting to hear from police," she said.

Another employee of the nearby Flamboyant Beauty Salon, at 628 Vaughan Rd., said she was also waiting for instructions from police.

"The police didn't say when we could come back," she said.
