An Oshawa woman has been charged in connection to a hit-and-run in downtown Toronto on Saturday morning that left one man with life-threatening injuries.

Jay McGinn, 28, was struck by a vehicle while waiting for a taxi near Dundas Street and Augusta Avenue at around 2:30 a.m. Saturday morning.

He was waiting for passengers to get out of the taxi when he was struck by a westbound vehicle that fled the scene, police said.

McGinn was rushed to St. Michael’s Hospital with serious injuries and is said to be in critical condition.

Friends say McGinn was celebrating his girlfriend’s birthday when he was struck by the car.

Earlier Sunday, McGinn’s mother Lisa Falls told CTV Toronto that her son is suffering from severe head trauma and said the situation looks “grim.”

“When you see your child with the paraphernalia that he has around him, the machines, it becomes real and it becomes devastating,” Falls said.

Karen Fyfe, 31, was arrested and charged in connection to the incident. She is scheduled to appear at a downtown court on Monday.
