Authorities in New York City have apprehended a Toronto suspect wanted in connection with a fatal-restaurant stabbing.

Arber Baddani Kransniqi, 32, was arrested Wednesday by New York City Police and is awaiting extradition to Canada.

Police apprehended Kransniqi after he was recognized from a Crime Stoppers wanted poster.

A Canada-wide warrant on the charge of second-degree murder was issued for Kransniqi in connection with the death of Jordan Ormonde last spring.

Ormonde was stabbed in the neck in April while inside the Kokkino restaurant and bar on Danforth Avenue.

Ormonde worked at another restaurant in the neighbourhood. Police say he had no record of problems with the law.

Police believe Krasniqi and Ormonde exchanged words in a crowded bar before the incident occurred.
