For some lucky Canadian lottery player, the new year could start with 50 million reasons to break out in a happy dance.
The jackpot for Friday night's Lotto Max draw is $50 million, the same as it was on Christmas Eve when no one had the winning ticket.
There are also 18 MaxMillions prizes of $1 million each in Friday's draw.
Of the 10 MaxMillion prizes available a week ago, six were claimed.
As of Thursday afternoon, sales of Lotto Max tickets in Ontario were slower than they were a week ago.
Sarah Kiriliuk, media relations manager of Ontario Lottery and Gaming, says there was a rush a week ago to buy Lotto Max tickets as Christmas presents and stocking stuffers.
The odds of anyone winning the jackpot are said to be 28-million-to-one.
