TORONTO - A 38-year-old man faces a long list of charges following an incident Wednesday afternoon on Highway 401 in west-end Toronto.

Provincial police say patrol officers tried to stop a van travelling at high speed on the shoulder of the highway.

Police say the driver failed to respond and exited the highway (at Keele St.), swerved into oncoming traffic and struck a bus shelter and pole.

A man got out of the van, which had been reported stolen, and fled on foot, but was arrested a few minutes later.

Police say no one was injured in the incident.
