A man and woman suffered serious injuries after being stabbed during a large brawl at a New Year's Eve party in Mississauga.

Peel police said after the bash ended just after midnight at 3455 Glen Erin Dr., near Erin Mills Parkway and Burnhampthorpe Road, several men who had been thrown out confronted guests as they were leaving.

A fight broke out and during the melee, the two Mississauga residents were stabbed.

Both victims were taken to Credit Valley Hospital and then transferred to Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre.

The 21-year-old woman suffered a serious stab wound to her back and the 20-year-old male was slashed in the abdomen. Neither of the injuries is considered life threatening.

Investigators are looking for several suspects. The person believed to be behind the slashing is described as male, black, 16 to 20 years old and with a medium build. He was wearing dark clothing.
