A man has died in a Mississauga hospital after being shot during an altercation that took place at the rear of an apartment building late Tuesday night.
Police say they were alerted to the shooting on Shipp Drive, less than one kilometre from the Square One Shopping Centre, at around 10:07 p.m.
On Wednesday afternoon, police identified the victim as Andres David Buritica-Marin, a 25-year-old man who "resides outside of the GTA."
Const. Marlene Murphy told ctvtoronto.ca that the exact place where the victim was living is being withheld for investigative reasons.
He was not known to Peel Regional Police, Murphy said.
Investigators are searching for three suspects who were spotted leaving the scene immediately after the shooting. Police say two vehicles -- a dark-coloured Mercedes SUV and a smaller, silver car -- were also seen leaving the scene.
The murder is Peel Region's eighth of the year.
