Man in life-threatening condition after being found stabbed in Toronto apartment fire
A man is in hospital with critical injuries after he was found with stab wounds inside a burning apartment unit in downtown Toronto Friday morning.
Emergency crews were called to 155 Sherbourne Street, near Shuter Street, around 11:10 a.m. for a fire.
Toronto Fire said when they arrived, heavy smoke billowed from the fifth floor.
Crews entered one of the units on the fifth floor and rescued two people from the unit, with one of those individuals out on the balcony at the time, Toronto Fire said.
The fire was quickly doused.
Toronto paramedics told CP24 they brought a patient to the hospital in serious, possibly life-threatening condition, but they would not disclose the nature of the victim's injuries.
Toronto police, however, said the victim sustained stab wounds.
There is no suspect description at this time, police added, as well as any details about the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The cause of the fire is also currently unknown.
