A 26-year-old man is in hospital after being stabbed with a knife at a bar in Toronto's Humberlea neighbourhood early Monday morning.

Police said the incident occurred at about 3:30 a.m. at Las Brisas Club near Weston Road and Sheppard Avenue West.

He was stabbed after leaving the bar when he was approached by a group of men. The victim fled and only realized later that he was injured, police said.

Emergency crews transported the man to a hospital, where police said he is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Details about what might have provoked the fight were not available.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, 5'3" to 5'5" with a thin build.
