MARKHAM, Ont. - A man will appear in court next month to face dangerous and impaired driving charges after a car crashed into an apartment building in the Toronto suburb of Markham, Ont.

Police say a 2000 Volkswagen Jetta hit the building on Clark Avenue at around 2:45 a.m. last Saturday.

A 58-year-old man sustained serious injuries while his 29-year-old son had minor injuries.

Police say the suspect fled the scene but turned himself in on Monday.

Vladimir Oleynik, 23, is charged with two counts each of impaired driving causing bodily harm, dangerous driving causing bodily harm, criminal negligence causing bodily harm, and one count of failing to remain at the scene of an accident.

He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Newmarket on Sept. 21.
