CLARINGTON, Ont. - A man has been charged after five dogs were found dead on Sunday in a home in Clarington, Ont., east of Toronto.

Police say it appears four of the animals were shot.

Officers also found seven living puppies and an adult dog. All were sent to an animal shelter in nearby Whitby, Ont.

Police seized a rifle, tripod and crossbow from the home.

A 25-year-old man is charged with animal cruelty and firearms offences.
