Fire sent residents scrambling from an east-end apartment Friday afternoon, marking the second time this week a blaze has broken out near Cosburn and Pape Avenues.

Friday's fire at 91 Cosburn Ave. burned so hot that it caused windows to shatter in the eighth-floor unit where it began. Firefighters arrived at the scene just after 4:30 p.m., but the fire had been knocked down before they could get to work.

No one was hurt in the blaze.

Affected residents were temporarily housed at the same local community centre used when a three-alarm fire broke out at 80 Cosburn Ave. on Tuesday. Officials say that fire began after wiring overheated on several floors.
