TORONTO - The Ontario Energy Board is going on the road for consultations on how stray voltage from high-tension hydro wires affects farms.

Stray voltage refers to a weak electric current from overhead hydro wires that can flow through an animal's body.

It's typically felt by larger animals, such as cows and beef cattle, and can cause them stress, and therefore affect productivity.

Energy Minister Dwight Duncan had previously ordered the energy board to do whatever was needed to address the issue.

The first consultation takes place Oct. 29 in Lindsay.

There will also be meetings in Woodstock on Oct. 31, Thunder Bay on Nov. 1, Wyoming on Nov. 5, Verner on Nov. 7 and in Kemptville on Nov. 9.
