An 84-year-old man drowned Saturday in Lake Muskoka near Gravenhurst.

Ontario Provincial Police were called to a residence on Narrows Road after the man did not return from swimming around 4:50 p.m.

Rescuers located George Herczeg of Toronto in shallow water near the dock, police said.

Earlier Saturday a 31-year-old man drowned near Wasaga Beach.

The man, who had limited swimming abilities, waded into the Nottawasaga River to fetch a ball around noon.

A 14-year-old boy spotted the man in trouble and called for help. Emergency crews rushed to the scene and pulled the man from the bottom of the river.

Bun Chang Tang, 31, of Toronto was rushed to hospital, but did not survive.

At least four people have drowned in the Georgian Bay area this year.

In the Niagara region Saturday, a boy was pulled from a motel pool around 9:45 p.m. The age of the boy is not known. He was transferred to Buffalo Children's Hospital in critical condition.
