A 78-year-old man is dead and his son has been arrested and charged in a case where the murder weapon allegedly was a hammer.

Felice Bonadonna was found dead at his home on Arcot Blvd. in the Weston and Albion Roads area.

Police and paramedics responded to the home just before 5 p.m. Monday after receiving a 911 call from a man who said he had just killed someone with a hammer.

The victim was found inside the home's garage, suffering from major trauma to his head and bleeding heavily. He was rushed to Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre where he was pronounced dead in the emergency room.

Police arrested the victim's 38-year-old son Roy in the home's driveway. Officers found him standing there when they arrived. The suspect was charged with first-degree murder.

"They just grabbed him, put the hands behind the back, threw him in the car ... and took him away," a neighbour who saw the arrest told CTV News.

The suspect was set to appear in court on Monday. A motive for the attack has not been revealed, and homicide detectives are questioning the suspect.
