Parts of Yonge, Richmond, Bathurst, and Front Streets and Fort York Boulevard will close on Sunday for the annual Toronto Yonge Street 10K run.

The 10-kilometre run is an annual Canada Running Series event that raises money for local charities. The run will start at the intersection of Yonge Street and Roselawn Avenue at 9 a.m., and ends when the last runner crosses the finish line on Fort York Boulevard.

Businesses along the route will be open, and the streets will be open to pedestrian traffic. Road closures will begin at either 6 a.m. or 9 a.m. and will end at either 12:30 p.m. or 2 p.m. However, if all runners have passed an intersection before the scheduled time, the road will re-open to motor traffic.

The course heads south on Yonge Street, and turns west onto Richmond St. W, south on Peter Street to Front street. The course then goes west on Front Street, south on Bathurst, and west on Fort York Boulevard.

"Our advice is to take public transit wherever possible, and if they have to drive, to take extra time," said the city's senior communications coordinator Steve Johnston.
