The major TTC track replacement and road resurfacing projects are:

The Don Valley Parkway and Gardiner Expressway will again undergo scheduled closures this summer for annual maintenance work. The first expressway closure will be the DVP, which will be shut down in both directions between Highway 401 and the Gardiner from Sunday, May 4 at 2 a.m. to Monday, May 5 at 5 a.m.

Public Works chairman Glenn De Baeremaeker says the city is spending $140 million more this year to keep roads and bridges in good shape.

"It's a lot of money, but it is critical for us to maintain our infrastructure assets and improve safety conditions," De Baeremaeker said in a press release.

He said city crews have already fixed more than 90,000 potholes this winter and spring.

"After this winter, one of the worst in terms of snow and ice conditions in recent memory, the city has worked very hard to fix potholes on our roads," De Baeremaeker said.

Gary Welsh, the general manager of transportation, said the city is committed to encouraging key transit projects, enhancing biking opportunities and improving conditions for pedestrians to help reduce traffic congestion and greenhouse gas emissions.
