PORT COLBORNE, Ont. - Niagara regional police are crediting a couple of citizens with apprehending a man in Port Colborne.

Police say a homeowner and his visitor noticed a suspicious man lurking near vehicles on Sunday night.

The pair intercepted the man to question him, but police say he pulled a crowbar from his jacket and assaulted both men.

The injured resident and his visitor subdued the man and, with the help of neighbours, restrained him until police arrived.

The homeowner suffered head and upper body injuries and bite wounds to his hand, while the visitor was uninjured.

Chris McQuaig, 36, of Port Colborne faces charges that include robbery, assault causing bodily harm, and possession of a prohibited weapon.
