A seven-year-old Mississauga boy is in critical condition after he and two members of his family were struck by a vehicle on Monday evening.

Peel Regional Police said a father and his two children were struck by a car on Mavis Road at Central Parkway West in the Cooksville area at around 7:30 p.m.

The father and a nine-year-old daughter were treated at a Mississauga hospital and released Monday night.

Police said the seven-year-old boy was rushed to Toronto's Hospital for Sick Children in critical condition. He remained in hospital overnight.

Const. George Tudos said the incident happened as a car exited a YMCA parking lot. The driver stayed at the scene after the collision.

Police continue to investigate the collision.
