Spring continues its bloom in Toronto as Environment Canada’s forecast calls for clear skies and sunshine, with a daytime high of 16 C. However, the mercury will fall to a chilly low 4 C Tuesday night.

Ontario set to adopt cap-and-trade system

Three quarters of Canada's 35 million citizens will soon live in jurisdictions with a price on carbon after Ontario announced Monday it is joining Quebec and California in a cap-and-trade system. The federal government was critical of the move, and maintains that any effort to price carbon is an economy killer.

Smoking ban goes unenforced

Despite increased restrictions and prominent signage, many smokers are still lighting up near public buildings on Toronto's streets. There were no charges laid in the city, despite 212 complaints concerning smoking in public areas last year.

SPORTS

The Tampa Bay Rays took advantage of an erratic R.A. Dickey and spoiled the Blue Jays' home opener by defeating Toronto 2-1 on Monday night before a sellout crowd at the Rogers Centre. Dickey gifted the Rays a pair of runs in the fourth inning by issuing two walks with the bases juiced.

The Jays can exact revenge against the Rays tonight in the second game of their four-game series at the Rogers Centre. The game starts at 7:07 p.m.

TIFF Kids Film Festival

Check out screenings of kids movies including the Canadian premiere of "Shaun the Sheep," a spin off from the "Wallace and Gromit" series, and "When Marnie Was There." The event also features talks with film makers and other special guests.
