Two Toronto police officers were sent to hospital after they were hit by the same SUV Friday afternoon.

Police said the on-duty bicycle officers suffered minor injuries near Yonge Dundas Square around 4:30 p.m. after they attempted to stop an SUV. They were taken to St. Michael's Hospital as a precaution but have since been released.

Police said the incident happened after one officer was cut off by an SUV near Best Buy. He proceeded to attempt to stop the vehicle and talk to the driver however the vehicle sped away, dragging the officer approximately 30 meters.

A second bike officer then tried to stop the SUV but was also hit and thrown over the hood of the car.

Police said the SUV was finally stopped on Shuter Street. A man and woman have been arrested.

Police have not said if any charges will be laid.
