A woman has been charged after a dog was thrown off a balcony in Scarborough in August.

Police say two people became involved in a dispute at 5600 Sheppard Avenue East, in the Markham Road and Sheppard Avenue East area, around 11 p.m. on Aug. 11. 

During the dispute, one person threw the other person's dog off a balcony, authorities said in a statement on Friday.

The dog did not survive the fall, police say.

Police have arrested and charged a 27-year-old woman with endangering or injuring other animals.
