Two males are in hospital – one with-life-threatening injuries – following a shooting in North York Monday evening.

It happened at a housing complex near Sheppard Avenue and Yatescastle Drive shortly before 7 p.m.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting were not immediately clear.

According to paramedics, one male was transported to a trauma centre with life-threatening injuries. Police said he was shot in the head.

The second male was shot in the leg and sustained minor injuries.

The ages of the victims were not immediately provided. Preliminary information provided by police indicated that a shotgun may have been used.

The brother of one of the victims said the incident has left him in shock.

“I was at the library, and my friend (said) ‘oh your brother got shot,’” Igushi Blake told CP24.

A red car was seen fleeing the area following the incident, police said, however a further description of the vehicle or of possible suspects was not immediately provided.

Police continue to investigate.
