Travellers flying out of Toronto’s Pearson International Airport are being advised to check their flight schedule as overnight wintry conditions may cause delays and cancellations on Thursday morning.

Environment Canada issued a special weather statement for Toronto on Wednesday and Thursday. The national weather agency said a low pressure system was expected to bring 10 centimetres of Wednesday night and Thursday.

"General snowfall totals are expected to approach 10 cm over most of the area. However, higher totals of near 15 cm will be likely along a swath extending from Kingston to the National Capital Region," the national weather agency said in a statement.

Along the Niagara peninsula and the Georgian Bay area, residents can expect 10 to 15 centimetres of snow.

The snow was expected to taper off Thursday morning in eastern Ontario, but will last until Thursday afternoon in central and southwestern Ontario, the weather agency says.
