Police are searching for a male suspect after a woman was sexually assaulted in downtown Toronto on Friday night.

The incident occurred shortly before midnight in the area of Yonge and Alexander Streets.

According to Toronto police, a 28-year-old woman was approached by a man and taken behind a building at gunpoint where she was sexually assaulted.

The woman was taken to hospital with minor injuries, paramedics said.

The suspect is described as a black man between 25 and 30 years old. He is approximately five-feet-nine-inches tall with a medium build. He was last seen wearing dark clothing.
