Toronto police are investigating after shots were fired near a downtown parking lot, Tuesday morning.

Police received a number of reports of gunshots at 31 Mercer Street, near King Street West and Blue Jays Way, at about 3 a.m.

Police said officers attended the scene and found several shell casings in the area.

No one has reported injuries in the incident.

Police have not released a suspect description.

The downtown shooting comes on the same day that Mayor Rob Ford met with Prime Minister Stephen Harper to discuss gun violence in the city.

Premier Dalton McGuinty promised on Monday to extend provincial funding for the Toronto Anti-Violence Intervention Strategy, known as TAVIS.
