One man is dead and another injured after an early-morning double shooting downtown.

The attack happened early Saturday, at a park near Bathurst Street and Dundas Street.

Police say they were called to Alexandra Park at 4:15 a.m. for what is believed to be a targeted shooting.

Roberto Dixon, 27, of Toronto, was pronounced dead at the scene from an apparent gunshot wound to the head.

Investigators say Dixon and two friends were sitting on a park bench when they were approached by the suspect.

A second male in his early 30s was taken to hospital in serious but non-life threatening condition. According to police, the man was shot in hip after getting in the way of gunman.

Police say the third man at the scene was not injured.

The two witnesses are cooperating with investigators.

Dixon was known to police, but detectives say he hasn't been in any trouble in recent years.

Police say there are looking for a single shooter.
