Update (June 1, 2018): Court documents obtained by CTV News show the charge against Albert Opoku has been withdrawn.

An Oakville man has been charged in connection with a fatal multi-vehicle collision involving a dump truck in north Etobicoke yesterday afternoon.

The incident happened on Hwy. 27 near Humber College Boulevard just before 1:50 p.m. on Tuesday.

The accident involved three vehicles -- a Kia, a Nissan and a Toyota Corolla -- and a dump truck. According to Const. Clint Stibbe, the drivers of the Kia and Nissan were heading northbound when the Kia collided with the back of the Toyota, which then collided with the Nissan.

“As the vehicles were northbound, the Kia struck the back of the Toyota Corolla. The Toyota Corolla went out of control, striking the Nissan. The Nissan and the Toyota then unfortunately crossed into southbound traffic and struck the dump truck,” Stibbe said.

One person -- believed to be a 71-year-old -man -- was pronounced dead at the scene while three others were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police have identified the driver of the Kia as 21-year-old Albert Opoku of Oakville and charged him with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death.

Opoku is expected to make an appearance in court today.
