A 42-year-old man was arrested on Saturday, accused by police of robbing two banks in Toronto.

Both robberies happened last week.

The latest robbery happened just before 8 p.m. on Friday at a bank in the Kingston and McCowan roads area. A man approached a teller who was speaking to another customer and as a transaction was taking place, the man allegedly showed them his gun and grabbed the money the teller was about to give to the customer, police said.

Police said the man then pointed the gun at a security guard and the teller, demanding more money. He was given a sum of cash and fled the scene.

A similar robbery occurred at bank in the Danforth and Pape avenues area on June 22 at 3:30 p.m. A man walked into a bank while trying to conceal his identity with his collar. He then pulled out a gun and demanded money, police said.

When the cash was handed over, he fled the scene.

On Saturday, officers located a suspect driving through a plaza near St. Clair and Pharmacy avenues, checking out a bank in the area.

A suspect identified as Toronto resident Patrick Mason was arrested and charged with multiple counts of robbery, disguise with intent, using a firearm in the commission of an indictable offence and pointing a firearm. He was also charged with conspiracy to commit an indictable offence.

He is scheduled to appear in court in Toronto on June 30 at 10 a.m.
