A Toronto man faces a number of charges after allegedly forcing a 19-year-old woman to perform sexual acts on customers at her workplace.

According to Toronto police, the woman met the man on Facebook in 2013 where they began a relationship. At the time, neither of them lived in Canada.

By 2016, the couple came to Canada and began living in Toronto, police said.

The woman started working at a spa and police allege she was ordered by the man to perform sex acts on customers to earn money.

Police said the woman was required to meet a strict quota and was not allowed home if she did not meet it.

Police also said the woman was physically assaulted and the man rarely let her out of his sight unless she was at work.

When the woman was at work, she was required to speak to the man on the phone the whole time so he could listen to her while she was there, police said.

Police became involved on July 21 after the woman’s co-workers spotted injuries on the woman.

That same day, a suspect was arrested in connection with the investigation.

The man faces six charges, including trafficking in persons, sexual assault, assault and material benefit from sexual services.

He made a court appearance on Friday, July 22.

Police believe there may be more victims.

Anyone with information is asked to contact investigators at 416-808-7474 or Crime Stoppers at 416-222-TIPS (8477).

Editor’s Note: The suspect’s name, age and photo have been removed from the story, as all charges against him were dropped according to court documents.
