LONDON, Ont. -- The province's police watchdog has charged two London, Ont., constables with assault after allegations that a man was injured during his arrest last fall.

The Special Investigations Unit says 27-year-old Charles Snodgrass was being arrested early on the morning of Nov. 2, 2013 when there was an "interaction" involving two officers that left him injured.

Const. Gareth Harris and Const. Ryan Hendrick are each charged with assault causing bodily harm.

They're due in court May 8.

London police spokesman Const. Ken Steeves says the two officers will be placed on administrative duties for the duration of the process.

The SIU is an arm's length agency that investigates reports involving police where there has been death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.
