Hydro crews have been working through the night to restore electricity to thousands of customers in central and southern Ontario after rain storms swept across the province Friday evening.

At the peak of the storms more than 50,000 customers lost power, with communities in the southern Georgian Bay area being the hardest hit.

As of 10 a.m. Saturday, the Hydro One website said about 25,000 customers were still waiting to be reconnected -- and that some might have to wait until early Sunday evening for their power to be restored.
