More than 1,000 Toronto-area drivers were asked to reschedule their driving tests due to the Pan Am Games.

Customers who had scheduled road tests at five locations between July 10 and 26 were affected by the multi-sporting event, a statement from the Ministry of Transportation said. The affected locations were Etobicoke, Metro East, Oshawa, Port Union and Downsview.

DriveTest representatives contacted 1,137 people, offering them the option of rescheduling their tests or taking the test at an alternative location with no additional cost, the statement said.

To make up for the cancelled appointments, the organization also allowed Oshawa, Ont. drivers to schedule their tests on two Saturdays in July, though the centre is normally closed on weekends.

The Ministry said approximately 87 per cent of people affected chose to reschedule for another date, or said they would call in and reschedule at a later date.

DriveTest did not hear back from the other 13 per cent, approximately 150 people, so their spots will continue to be reserved. When they show up for their tests, they will be asked to rebook in a timely manner.
