Motorists and TTC riders will have to contend with closures or service disruptions in Toronto this weekend.

One of the biggest road closures is occurring on the Gardiner Expressway on Sunday.

To replace four overhead signs and conduct general maintenance, city crews are closing the Gardiner’s westbound collector lanes between Royal York Road and Kipling Avenue from 12:01 a.m. to 9 a.m.

Westbound motorists will not be able to access the Gardiner at Islington Avenue or exit at Kipling.

The city says the new signs will be easier to read from far away and at night.

Part of Lake Shore Boulevard West closed for parade

On Saturday, the Lakeshore Village BIA’s annual Christmas parade is taking place on Lake Shore Boulevard West from Dwight Avenue to Thirty Sixth Street.

TTC streetcars along that stretch of Lake Shore will be replaced at 9 a.m. until about noon with buses.

Subway closure in downtown Toronto

In downtown Toronto, there is no subway service between Union and St. Andrew stations Saturday and Sunday.

Customers must use the Yonge subway line to reach Union. People can use the 506 Carlton, 505 Dundas, 501 Queen or 504 King streetcars to connect between the Yonge and University subway lines.

A Wheel-Trans vehicle will be available for people who require accessible transit service between Union and St. Andrew. For service, customers can speak with any uniformed TTC employee at Union or St. Andrew, the TTC says.

Regular subway service is scheduled to resume Monday at 6 a.m.
